Technical Writer/Editor

Job Summary:
Manages the completion of complex proposal development, writing, editing, and management support for various business development and capture efforts. Support the Proposal Manager throughout the proposal process, meeting proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval, coordinating requirements with contributors, and contributing proposal status information during review meetings

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assembles and submits proposals in response to formal Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) and ad-hoc requests
  • Supports development of technical and management white papers and requests for information (RFI) by using templates, following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone, and maintaining proposal support databases
  • Organize and prepare information and data to write a variety of technical documents for a Federal Government audience requiring in-depth knowledge and understanding of healthcare or healthcare related agencies
  • Edit documents prepared by other staff members, for content, coverage, clarity, and voice consistency, recommending revisions and editorial standards as appropriate.
  • Analyzes and understands RFP’s, (proofing, managing content, working across the organization to assimilate information and adhering to due dates)
    Develops and writes proposals and associated qualification materials
  • Produces content and proofing support for marketing related efforts including promotional material, presentations and collateral
    Manages, creates and produces StrategicHealthSolutions initiatives under tight deadlines
  • Gathers technical content from the Leadership, Senior Consultants and system designers; editing and / or re-writing technical content where necessary
  • Gather proposal information by identifying sources of information and interviewing subject matter experts (SME) to understand their areas of expertise and develop publications concept that clearly communicate their knowledge

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field
  • Five years of editing experience
  • Two years writing or proposal experience supporting healthcare or health related agencies highly desired
  • Strong writing, proofreading, editing, and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and experience with graphic design required
  • Understand the win themes, proposal concepts, and the business development lifecycle
  • Understanding of the Federal market and government proposals
  • Experience and ability to collaborate with subject matter experts (SME) and graphic designers to create compelling visual images
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate superior proofreading skills
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with time constraints
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
  • Experience with graphic design required

  • Ability to prepare complex data and figures and/or complete extensive reading and research
  • Ability to occasionally travel
